Cat and Mouse Games

Let me introduce you to my cat, Squirt. When we get distracted and don't fill squirts food bowl, he kicks into farm cat mode (his genes are good old farm cat). Squirt loves to mouse. I have hopes that the mice come from the new construction in our area... but today is one of those days that squirt is tossing around a live mouse in my front yard. The poor little mouse is terrified. I am close to convinced that they die from heart attack not from being eaten.

The kids and I are intrigued with watching the interactions between the cat and the mouse. The mouse will try to slip away and the cat lackadaisically walks along and then pounces. The mouse is literally a toy to Squirt. I can't figure out WHY I like to watch them. On one hand it gives me the heebeejeebees (how the heck do you spell that?)... and on the other, I love to 'study' the way they interact. How fun to be the cat... how miserable to the be mouse.

I wonder how that relates with life...
