This weekend we headed to the mountains in hunt of our Christmas Tree for 2006. It was cold and miserable at home... but as we gained altitude we passed through the clouds and it was BEAUTIFUL up top! Warmer than at home... and bright sun (which does not show well in the pictures). As you can see... Zeke was NOT happy that he felt like a stiff snowman in his gear!
Hannah however... loved it!
Judah loved it the most...that is, until the accident... oh, yes... you can't have a day to the mountains with a sled without an accident. Judah and Hannah enjoyed a little sleding in an area where I had to actually give them a push or two to get going... but that was not enough excitement for my growing boy. I watched with concern as he walked up a step hill and prepared to make the plunge. I bit my tongue, telling myself that he needs adventure... and I should let him have a joy ride. The first two times down were full of excitment and thrill. The third trip down however took a new twist. He didn't grab ahold of the stering rope before slipping down. Therefore, he had no control over the direction the sled went. It veared off course... taking him straight for a log of a fallen tree... actually two of them. The first one gave him lift... he caught a little air... and then the second log he had to quickly lay back to go under the log. I was so proud that his instinct was to lay back... or we would have had a serious crash. So, as he is laying on his back going under the log... his upper lip got caught on the limb of the tree.... OH, YES.... a tree limb caught his mouth... tearing up the inside of his mouth. He was bloody and swollen all the way home... Now... three days later, he has a bruise for a mustache. He was a tough cookie... pulling out of the crying phase and into tough guy phase. It was bonding for the boys... not for mom, however!
(This is before the crash...)
The happy... yet, frozen K9 in the family...
Tree pictures... will have to come another day! :-)

Oh man stressed just reading about the sleding. So glad that he is okay.
Love your pictures!
Yeah... not looking forward to sledding trips with my boys (big or small) Mason is like an accident waiting to happen!
Glad that Judah survived the "crash."
Have a wonderful week... looking forward to seeing pictures of the tree.
With boys there will always be bruises and blood! Still freaks me out everytime though. We are well known at the local ER!
For a second I thought we were going to see before and after shots of Judah!:) Hope he's feeling better!
Yowsers. Sounds like you guys had a good time. Luckily we never made a trip to the E.R. for either one of us. *wink* *wink* Love the updates.
little brother
I was preparing myself for the "after the crash" picture. Thank you for sparing that one.
Sleding scares me...well, pretty much anything boys do scares me. What a good mommy you are.
Hey little brother... how fun to see you on here!! ~ Big Sister!
Oh Michelle...boys will be boys and I am so glad that I have one! You can come sledding at "the Big House" any time that you want!! Whenever Landon gets hurt, he says that his teeth are fine since that is my first question when I see blood on his face/mouth! This will be a memorable tree hunting story for years to come!
